The Process
Step 1: Book a Consultation.
This is a quick, 20-minute phone/video call where I’ll ask you some questions to see if I am the right therapist to meet your needs. Some things we may talk about include:
What motivated you to seek therapy?
If you have participated in therapy before, what has worked/not worked in those experiences?
I’ll spend some time giving you information around confidentiality, cancellation/late policies and payments.
This is your opportunity to ask me questions about my approach, what the process looks like, and how I run the practice. If we both feel it’s a good fit, we can move on to Step 2. If we decide that another therapist could be more helpful, we can discuss possible referrals.
Step 2: Intake Process and Paperwork
If you plan on using insurance, I will prompt Headway (the company I use for billing and insurance verification) to email you an invitation to set up an account. When setting up the account, you will need your most recent insurance card and the payment method you would like to use. This is the most time sensitive part of the process.
I will email you a link to my client portal. There you will be able to review and sign my intake paperwork. This will include my practice policies, releases of information, payment method, and mental health questionnaires. Please have this completed 24 hours prior to our 1st scheduled appointment.
I will text you an invitation to a HIPAA compliant texting platform called Spruce. Spruce is the most efficient way to communicate with me. Note: I do not provide crisis response, so it may be 24 hours or more before I am able to return a message.
Step 3: Intake Assessment Appointment
The intake appointment looks a little different than typical therapy sessions. I will complete an assessment and gather information on your current mental/physical health challenges, your social history, relationships with peers, partners and family. We will discuss your therapeutic goals and self care strategies. My goal is to get an overall snapshot of your life. Future sessions are when we get to really dig into the therapeutic process!

Out of Network:
For those insured by other providers, the private pay rate applies ($140/individual session). I do provide a receipt for services or superbills for possible reimbursement. Each insurance company has different policies, so it is best for you to contact your provider directly to inquire about your out-of-network benefits.
Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:
‣ What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient behavioral health services provided by a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor?
‣ Do I have a deductible that I have to meet before the coverage for these services begins?
‣ How much have I paid towards my deductible?
‣ Are there any limits regarding time frame of service/number of sessions?
‣ Where and how would I submit my receipt for services or superbill for reimbursement?
Financial concerns? I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots. Please contact me for more information.
Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay a $75 fee.
